Centenary Celebration - August 2015
The August meeting was a gathering of visitors, friends, current and former members all present in the Village Hall to celebrate 100 years of the WI in Britain. Lilian Argrave welcomed everyone to the evening and was pleased that so many people had come to join us. The evening began with the singing of 'Jerusalem' and continued with a variety of quizzes, delicious refreshments, Pimms and celebration cakes made by Anne Shepherd and Jenny Hall. Our oldest member Dorothy Barlow was given the honour of cutting the Anniversary Cake. A new Photobook compiled by Susan Ewing was on show and created much interest, together with the Pottery Bowl created at our July meeting. We were delighted that members from Sandbach, Barthomley, Alsager, Woodnoth cum Shavington, Mercia Link and Cheshire Federation were able to join us.
